With dozens of games being unloaded in less than two hours, there couldn't be a lot of focus on them like other developers did during their showcases. So what we have is a quick roundup – what they are, impressions and what we think:
A factory building game on an alien planet. Basically you colonize, tear down nature and construct huge machines over a 30 square km area.
A Futuristic cab/Uber game that ventures into conspiracies and such.
A battle royale-style game that's like a more realistic Fortnite. It combines scale with death simulation. Leaving info like footprints and displacing foliage also makes it realistic, as you need to use tracking skills to kill people.
The Forgotten City
A mod in an ancient underground city of mystery. Basically: "you sin and you die."
Star Control Origins
A space exploration title where you explore thousands of planets, deal with aliens and basically play a more in-depth version of the final part of Spore. It's out September 20th.
This game is back from last year, but with new weapons like the Crossbow added.
After listening to fans, the series is now multiplayer, has deathmatches and has left the rail system behind. New maps and weapons are also there to let you kill more things in your mech. This is coming out July 17th.
The Sinking City
A Lovecraftian mystery set in Massachusetts. You're a detective in an open world action investigation title. That... that tells you all you need to know, to be honest.
A new quest called The Sacrifice was announced. Not too much else is known.
They had a quick video to show off, so let's do a lightning round.
Shenmue I & II – remastered versions of the first two Shenmue games. Not on the Dreamcast this time. Probably.
Shining Resonance Refrain – It's a Sega fighting game. That should tell you what you need to know.
Yakuza Kiwami – A remake of the first Yakuza series game, with a protagonist who really loves breaking things.
Valkyria Chronicles 4 – A war game with a dog! Oh, and really off-putting cel-shaded graphics.
Yakuza 0 – Another Yakuza game out in early August. More breaking things applies.
Killing Floor 2
There's a new weapons upgrade system. That's literally the entire announcement, boiled down.
The Summer Sideshow Treacherous Skies
Steampunk flying boats mixed with killing circus folks and robots. It's like Steampunk but somehow more realistic yet more drug-induced at the same time.
You're a shark in the deep South who is eating humans. Really, this is a shark RPG with level trees and everything. Games where you're an animal are always fun, but this takes the cake. Best new game of the night.
Bravery Network Online
A weird paper cutout turn based fighting game. Not too much else here. Honestly, this was really overshadowed by the SharkPG.
We don't really know too much, but it looks like a dark technology game masquerading as a farming game.
A retro platformer/scroller that includes a giant squid. Looks pretty fun as it's retro but it includes new mechanics at the same time.
Jurassic World Evolution
You get to build a dinosaur tourist trap! With Jeff Goldblum! With dinosaurs that can escape! From what they showed, it's like Sim City, but with a dino park. Looks fun as hell to me. Too bad you don't get to play as the dinosaurs.
