Wireless charger for Nintendo Switch controllers debuts at CES POWERCAST

When it comes to keeping gamers going late into the night, Powercast has Nintendo Switch owners covered.

At CES 2019 this week, the company unveiled its Wireless Charging Grips for the Nintendo Switch's Joy-Con controllers and claims its the first gaming product to charge over the air without wires, plugs or charging mats.  Instead, the grips automatically charge when placed within feet of Powercast’s PowerSpot transmitter.  That essentially means that gamers never have to dock their controllers and can leave them inside the grips for carefree wireless charging.  Furthermore, when out of the transmitter’s range, Powercast says the grips provide for roughly 38 hours of gameplay on one charge.

“Many of us at Powercast are Nintendo Switch gamers, and we often found that we’d let our batteries die by forgetting to dock our controllers,” said Powercast CEO Charles Greene. “Realizing our technology could solve the problem, we developed a product that lets the Joy-Cons charge without docking when you walk away from a gaming session.”

Powercast says they hope to bring their Nintendo Switch charging grips to market in the latter half of 2019.  Pricing has not yet been announced.
