John Carpenter-inspired horror game 'Distrust' announced for PC ALAWAR

Coming soon from Alawar is their upcoming sci-fi survival game, Distrust.  The game is inspired by John Carpenter’s classic, The Thing.

Currently in open beta with a free limited demo available on Steam, Distrust takes place after a helicopter crash leaves a group of explorers stranded near an Arctic base.  As they try to find a way back, all they are doing is sinking deeper into a nightmare scenario.  When they sleep, they attract a terrifying force that sucks the life out of their bodies, but the longer they battle exhaustion and stay awake, the less likely they are to survive.  It's a race against both the elements and madness.

Distrust is not your usual survival game. In addition to scavenging for food and equipment in a randomly generated map, players will have tons of quests, game events and plot twists to keep them coming back for more”, said Artem Bochkarev, Producer at Alawar.  “Adding an even deeper psychological layer, character mutations caused by a lack of sleep can range from seemingly harmless, such as a survivor giggling uncontrollably or quoting Shakespeare, to dangerous, where the survivor may see his partner as a monster and try to kill him."

Distrust is expected to release on Aug. 23.
