Earlier today, Activision announced the newest addition to their popular Skylanders toys-to-life series: Skylanders Imaginators. This new entry will allow players to design and create their own Skylanders heroes and insert them into the game, for the first time in the series. This is achieved using the new Creation Crystal toy, as well as the game's character creator, which allows for more than a googol (that's a one followed by a hundred zeroes) possible Skylanders. In addition to the new Creation Crystal, Imaginators introduces the concept of Skylanders Senseis, who can help created Skylanders obtain new techniques and weapons, or unlock new areas in the game; some of these Senseis include reformed villain from the series's past, now fighting on the side of good.

“Since we launched the very first Skylanders game, we have received countless letters and drawings from kids all over the world sharing their vision for their own Skylanders. No matter how in touch with our 'inner kids' we might think we are as adults, nothing comes close to the endless creativity that springs from the mind of an inspired kid,” said Eric Hirshberg, CEO of Activision Publishing, Inc. "We've turned this year's game into the ultimate blank canvas for kids' imaginations so they can create and play their own Skylanders.”

The game is slated to launch in October 2016 for Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and Wii U for a MSRP of $74.99. Additionally, Activision is holding a Skylanders Art-to-Life Contest, which gives fans the chance to have their created Skylanders appear in the game at launch. To enter, fans should draw their proposed Skylander and post it on Twitter or Instagram with the hashtag #SkylandersArtContest, or e-mail it to This email address is being protected from spambots.
