Who knew that video game fans could also be big time music fans? Perhaps Square-Enix had a hunch when they got worldwide DJ Skrillex to join forces with J-Pop idol and Kingdom Hearts mainstay Hikaru Utada to record the Kingdom Hearts III theme song, "Face My Fears."
Proving popular from the get-go, "Face My Fears" debuted this week on Billboard's Hot 100 this weeklist. Beyond being a highlight for the Kingdom Hearts series, it's also Utada's first entry onto the US chart as well as being Skrillex's eighth. Furthermore, the track also entered at #1 on the World Digital Song Sales chart.
"People have a really strong connection to the franchise, so being able to connect to the Kingdom Hearts community, to push those emotional buttons the right way and see the amount of positive reactions was an amazing thing," said Skrillex in a recent interview with Billboard.
