Iconic RPG 'Final Fantasy IX' releases on PC, consoles

Square-Enix's iconic RPG, Final Fantasy IX, is now available on Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and for Windows 10 PCs.

The game, which saw its original release in 2000 on the original PlayStation, is a tale of love, war, magic, and self-discovery.  Says Square-Enix, "Newcomers and veterans alike can experience legendary moments with Zidane, Vivi, princess Garnet and others with modern enhancements on the Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Windows 10, including high-definition movies and character models, auto-save functionality, and more."

Square-Enix also unveiled plans to follow up Wednesday's Final Fantasy IX release with Chocobo’s Mystery Dungeon Every Buddy! on PlayStation 4 next month.  The game carries a Mar. 20 release date and is a reworking of the 2007 game Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo’s Dungeon.

Final Fantasy XI is rated "T for Teen" by the ESRB and Chocobo's Mystery Dungeon Every Buddy! is rated "E10+".
