Take-Two Interactive's sci-fi game XCOM 2's release has been delayed by three weeks for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

The announcement came as part of the video game company's quarterly earning call.  Take-Two president Karl Slatoff says it's to make sure developer Firaxis has plenty of time to "ensure the game is fully polished at launch and meets the team's high standards."

XCOM 2 was originally supposed to launch on consoles on September 6.  The game's new PS4/Xbox One release date is Sept. 27 in North America and Sept. 30 internationally.

XCOM 2 released for PC and Mac on Feb. 5.  The game is rated "T for Teen" by the ESRB.
