Look out, Magic.  There's a new collectible card game on the market and it's one that promises gameplay the likes of which you've never before seen.

Developed by PlayFusion and released in partnership with toy licensing company TOMY new collectible card game, Lightseekers, combines video games, smart action figures, and augmented reality trading cards.

The game has 350 printed cards at launch and allows players to take control of a hero and use an arsenal of cards including spells, creatures, items, and locations, to defeat their opponents.  Each card can be scanned by the player's smartphone via the Lightseekers mobile app to unlock in-game effects like new spells, boosts, or followers who fights as an ally.

PlayFusion says the game is quick and easy to learn, but also provides great depth for advanced players who wish to experiment with deck building and tactical gameplay.  The card game is intended for two players, but can handle more if needed.  They also say that games typically last between 10-15 minutes, but can vary based on deck complexity, skill level, and number of players.

Currently, Lightseekers cards can be found on Amazon and at Toys-R-Us.  They come in a $30 intro pack that includes a pair of decks, one booster pack, two play mats, two health counters, the full game rules, two deck storage boxes, a trading shield, and a "Tribute Card."  There is also a $20 starter deck that comes with one hero card, five combo cards, and 30 action cards.  Furthermore, each deck has five exclusive cards that can only be found in starter decks.  One booster pack is also included, as is one play mat, one health counter, the full game rules, a deck storage box, a trading shield, and a Tribute Card.

Booster packs retail for $4 each and contain nine randomly-inserted cards (one hero card, one rare card, two uncommon. and five common cards).  There is also a chance to find a rare “shiny” cards in the packs.

The Lightseekers app is available for download in the US, UK, and Canada via the Apple App Store, Google Play, and Amazon App Store for each's respective device.
