Open-world RPG 'Outward' announced for PC, consoles

An in-game scene from 'Outward'. An in-game scene from 'Outward'. DEEP SILVER

A new open-world action RPG is in the works as Deep Silver, Nine Dots Studio, and Maximum Games jointly announce Outward for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.

In Outward, players take on the role of an adventurer, traveler, and explorer.  Most importantly, players are vulnerable, equipped with as much power as their adversaries and will have to survive through wild, brutal lands teeming with enemies, obstacles, and fantasy creatures, using combat and magic to overcome both the harsh environment and the rivals in their way.

"We are thrilled to collaborate with Nine Dots Studio on this exhilarating game, and look forward to gamers experiencing all it has to offer," said  Dr. Klemens Kundratitz, CEO of Koch Media/Deep Silver.

The game is designed to be playable both alone or with others via either online or in split-screen co-op.  Players start from humble beginnings and build their way up until they become a hardened wanderer.

"Working alongside Deep Silver allows us to expand beyond what we could have done on our own," said Guillaume Boucher-Vidal, Founder and President of Nine Dot Studios.  "We always had high ambitions with Outward and we're thrilled that we found a company who shares our vision and believes in the potential of the game."

Outward will be available early next year on PS4, Xbox One and PC in both digital and physical formats.
