Aksys Games is bringing fighter Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late[st] stateside for PlayStation 4, PS3, and PS Vita.
Releasing Feb. 9, Aksys says the French Bread developed game "is the definitive full-featured version" of the coin-op arcade fighting game. The game itself is based around a mysterious phenomenon that's known only as "the Hollow Night." As the story goes, it has enveloped regions of Japan in darkness for several centuries and is beset by shadowy monsters who feed off of a special substance called "Existance." While most humans can't see nor interact with these monsters, the player is one of 20 who can.
"The dev team has spent a lot of time rebalancing and perfecting the game for this release, and we're excited for fans to experience this new edition," said Akibo Shieh , Founder and CEO of Aksys Games . "Gamers who appreciate 'real' 2D fighters and anime fans will also enjoy discovering this unique series for the first time."
Available only on PlayStation platforms, the game features 20 unique characters including series veterans like Hyde, Merkava, and Linne, as well as four newly-introduced characters: Phonon, Mika, Wagner, and Enkidu. There is also an all-new Chronicle mode that player can experience as they unravel the mystery behind the mysterious Hollow Night. Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late[st] features classic 2D anime fighter controls with a splash of combos and a variety of fighting styles.
On PlayStation 4, Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late[st] will be available as both a physical and digital title. On PlayStation 3 and Vita, the game is digital-only. It's rated "T for Teen" by the ESRB.
