Oktagon Games takes over development of mobile game Magic: The Gathering - Puzzle Quest. The decision by publishing company D3 Publisher comes after original developer Hibernum announced their closure in August.
D3 says Oktagon Games and its D3 Go! division are currently working on the release and implementation of Ixalan, the latest Magic: The Gathering TCG set, into the game and expects to release the set's cards in November. Other announced features like Booster Crafting will still be coming to the game but have been delayed to later this year.
“We are impressed with the development capabilities that the Oktagon team brings to the title and are excited by the creativity, passion and commitment to make Magic: The Gathering – Puzzle Quest a game for all to enjoy,” said Peter Andrew, vice president of Publishing, D3 Go!.
Steve Fawkner, the original creator of Puzzle Quest will be taking a Senior Designer consultant role with Oktagon Games to assist on the title.
Magic: The Gathering - Puzzle Quest is a match-three puzzle game with RPG elements. It's based on the long-running Magic: The Gathering card game from Wizards of the Coast.
