'Planetoid Pioneers' launches for the PC VSETOP

Planetoid Pioneers, the sequel to Cortex Command, has come out on Steam. In development for eight years, developer Data Realms has released the Early Access version.

In the game, developer-created planetoids are probed, conquered, built upon and all points in between. The community's highest-rated user-generated content will automatically be gathered from the Steam Workshop and integrated to expand all areas of the game. Players who want to try their hand at game design have access to the same fully-integrated editing tools Data Realms used to build the game.

Up to four players can play to discover diverse worlds occupied by aliens, robots, and other extraterrestrial creatures. Each planetoid is player editable, complete with salvageable pieces and parts for upgrades.

"Players are encouraged to use their creative imagination to overcome obstacles and build their own custom adventures or inventions for others to enjoy," said Dan Tabar, founder of Data Realms. "Planetoid Pioneers blends creativity and exploration with wacky physics fun to make endlessly emergent gameplay happen."

Planetoid Pioneers is available on Steam and Humble for $19.99, while the Contributor Edition is $29.99. The Contributor Edition has a 25% launch discount, and Steam owners of Data Realms' previous game, Cortex Command, will receive an additional 25% discount on the Contributor Edition for a total of 50% off.
