As part of the Kinda Funny Games Showcase this past weekend, Ysbyrd Games (publishers of VA-11 HALL-A) announced that YIIK: A Post Modern RPG will be officially released this January. Developed by Ackk Games, YIIK follows college graduate Alex as he attempts to save a woman who mysteriously disappeared from an elevator, leading him down a rabbit hole that promises mystery, danger and high stakes. Players will explore dungeons filled with monsters and puzzles, while engaging in combat that mixes a traditional turn-based system with "twitchy minigames". YIIK promises a 30-hour story campaign that is fully voiced, with actors like Chris Niosi (Tales of Zestiria) and Clifford Chapin (RWBY) lending their talents; the game's soundtrack will include tunes from Hiroki Kikuta (Secret of Mana) and Toby Fox (Undertale).
“YIIK is an unusual mix of almost hallucinatory imagery and cross-genre gameplay,” said Andrew Allanson, founder and co-director, Ackk Studios. “These elements will draw the player deep into a bizarre, dreamlike world as Alex pursues his quest for answers. But what truths will he discover? How many layers does the onion have?”
YIIK: A Post Modern RPG will be released on January 17. It will be available on PC, Mac, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch for a MSRP of $19.99.
