Atari announces 'RollerCoaster Tycoon Adventures' for Nintendo Switch ATARI

Atari is bringing its iconic RollerCoaster Tycoon series to the Nintendo Switch for the very first time in the form of RollerCoaster Tycoon Adventures.

Scheduled to release on Dec. 13, the game combines classic RollerCoaster Tycoon gameplay with brand-new twists, all customized for Nintendo’s unique console.  The game features three play modes — Adventure, Scenario, and Sandbox — and lets players pick from more than 50 vivid colors to customize rides, roller coasters, shops, and restaurants.  Adventure Mode is brand new to the series and features an event system that is designed to make every park different.  Players will need to make tough decisions when presented with park events, ensuring that every playthrough of Adventure Mode is a compelling new Tycoon story.

Parks can be customized adding a pre-made path, foliage, and river tiles in one of four distinctive locations — Alpine, Moon, Canyon, and Tropics.  There are also 20 wacky rides, restaurants, and shops available to players including the humble Merry-go-Round and the death-defying Roto-Drop.  Players also have access  seven types of fully customizable roller coasters including wooden, steel, winged, hyper, inverted, dive, and accelerator.

Fred Chesnais, Atari's Chief Executive Officer, says the unveiling of RollerCoaster Tycoon Adventures for Nintendo Switch goes far beyond creating just another game in the long-running franchise.

“This announcement illustrates our strategy,” said Fred Chesnais, Chief Executive Officer, Atari.  “It highlights our overall corporate plan - first our ability to produce high-quality games, second to outsource some segments of the value chain to key industry players, and lastly, it keeps us on track to reach our objective of profitable growth for the current financial year."

RollerCoaster Tycoon Adventures is rated "E for Everyone" by the ESRB.
