In a somewhat unexpected move, Wizards of the Coast has decided to rescind their Modern-format bans of both Bloodbraid Elf and the overly powerful card Jace, The Mind Sculptor.
WotC credits the rise in the power level of decks that do not typically include the two newly un-banned cards as a large part of the reason to allow them back into official Modern play.
As far as current availability is concerned, Bloodbraid Elf is rather widely available having seen print five times with the most recent being Planechase Anthology. Jace, The Mind Sculptor has also seen print a number of times since its initial printing in Worldwake and will see print again in March when Masters 25 comes out.
"The reprint of Jace in Masters 25 will provide greater availability for our player base," comments Duke.
The un-bannings will take effect on Feb. 19, 2018.
