Evolution, the award-winning strategy-action board game from North Star Games, is now available on PC and mobile.
Released by North Star Digital Studios, the computer/mobile game version of Evolution retains the elements of the tabletop original while also offering players a swift pace of play and features that would only be possible in a modern video game. For those who have never played before, the digital release will also feature a learn-while-you-play tutorial. Furthermore, it will include a campaign mode with “Apex Species” to test players' wits, and cross-platform multiplayer that matches players against others of similar skill.
“Since its release in 2014, the original Evolution tabletop game and its many iterations have been a huge hit with players,” said Scott Rencher, president and co-founder of North Star Digital Studios. “We wanted Evolution: The Video Game to not only stand out as a worthwhile adaptation of the tabletop original, but as a great strategy video game all on its own.”
In Evolution, players create new species and adapt them for survival in an ever-changing environment, brought to life with a beautifully hand-painted, watercolor art-style and an earthy, contemplative original soundtrack. Players can combine different traits rooted in science (such as a long neck or a defensive shell) in limitless combinations to help creatures thrive in the fight for survival over scarce food resources and defense from deadly predators. Furthermore, players can develop symbiotic relationships or evolve carnivorous traits and feast on foes.
Evolution will be available in English on PC and Mac via Steam for $14.99 on Feb. 12, 2019. The game will also be released as free-to-try on iOS and Android with a full version available for $9.99 on the same day.
